    • Do Private Investigators need to be licensed?

      Yes!  Most States require Private Investigators to be licensed.  In the State of Georgia, Private Investigators are licensed through Georgia Secretary of State Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies.  

    • Can a Private Detective investigate criminal cases?

      Yes.  A Private Detective can investigate criminal cases the same as Law enforcement officials.  Although the Private Investigator may have limitations, they can still get the job done.  Law enforcement officials take on many cases and may be pressed for time to close a particular case. Some people may hire a Private Investigator so that they can dedicate more time to the case.   

    • Do Private Investigators carry a firearm?

      Yes.  Most Private Investigators carry a firearm.  However, it all depends on the State laws of that Private Investigator.  In Georgia Private Investigators must have a conceal carry permit that is issue by the State Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies.  

    • Are Private Investigators allowed to enter someone's property without permission?

      No.  There are certain laws that a Private Investigator must follow.  

    • How long does it takes to close a case?

      It all depends on the nature of the case.  Some cases can go on for weeks and months.  However, there are some cases that can be closed within a few days.  Missing persons cases can take some time.  

    • Where should I go to check the credentials of a Private Investigator?

      It depends on the State.  In Georgia the credentials of a Private Investigator can be check at:  www.sos.ga.gov under the licensing tab
